Closing Conference of the European Year of Creativity and Innovation 2009

Target group: The conference is intended for decision-makers from ministries and agencies in Europe, the European Commission and EU institutions, representatives of operational actors and people working in the field, researchers, teachers and the social partners.

2009 is the Year of Creativity and Innovation. The Year will be concluded with a closing conference that will include an exhibition of creative and innovative activities of the past year. The conference is intended to be a meeting place, where policy-creation from a Swedish and European perspective will be discussed.

About the year
Every year, the EU Council of Ministers chooses a special area of focus and in this context 2009 has been designated the European Year of Creativity and Innovation. The aim is to draw attention to the importance of creativity and innovation for development – both for individuals and for society as a whole.
In 2009 a number of activities are taking place around Europe and are intended to illustrate good practice and encourage debate in selected areas focused on during the year.
In Sweden, the areas of special focus include:
- Promote increased opportunities for children and young people to express themselves in various creative ways during their education.
- Creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship promote personal development, economic growth and higher employment.
- Increased efforts to strengthen education in mathematics, natural sciences and technology promote technological innovations.
