Title and objectives

The title of the conference is “Support for flexible and self-directed learning”. The aim is to investigate innovative and creative efforts made in Europe and in the Grundtvig Learning Partnerships to meet the individual needs of adult learners.

Adult learners are a diverse group and focus will be on disadvantaged learners where support in a wide context becomes even more important when creating learning opportunities. Partnerships dealing with learner support in various ways – through outreach activities, information, guidance, counselling, coaching etc – will be invited to the conference.

The quality of staff is crucial in motivating and supporting disadvantaged learners; hence will also projects dealing with staff development be invited. A special attention will be given to different ways of involving learners in the Learning Partnerships.

Methodology

  • Plenary sessions
  • Workshops (three different workshop topics in three sessions – case-studies/good practices)
  • Study visit to the Adult Education centre, Municipality of Nacka
  • Cultural programme

Topics for the workshops

The conference offers three workshop sessions with a "time-line" perspective; support and guidance before studies are commenced, support and guidance throughout the ongoing studies and lastly support and guidance for continued studies and/or re-integration in society and in the labour market.
