A year in France/Spain/Germany/Austria
These one-year programmes give upper secondary school pupils the opportunity to study in one of the above countries for one academic year.
IAESTE
IAESTE gives university and college students the opportunity to apply for a work experience placement abroad. The programme is primarily aimed at technology and science students, and over 90 countries participate in this exchange programme.
Linnaeus-Palme
Linnaeus-Palme is an exchange programme for teachers and students at undergraduate and master’s level in higher education. The programme aims at strengthening co-operation in the long-term between Universities in a developing country and in Sweden to their mutual benefit.
It is the co-operation between University departments that provides the fundamental basis for exchange within the Exchange programme Linnaeus-Palme. The respective co-operating departments determine the selection of students and subjects. The department of the Swedish institution prepares the project application concerning resources for teacher or student exchange and which is thus the unit with operational responsibility.
In order for students to be eligible for the Linnaeus-Palme grant his/her University has to have a project together with a Swedish University. Then the student applies to the University to participate in the programme.
Minor Field Studies (MFS)
MFS (Minor Field Studies) is a Sida-funded scholarship programme for field studies in developing countries. It targets university and college students who have international interests and who wish to gather material for an undergraduate or postgraduate dissertation.
Atlas
The target group for this programme includes staff and pupils at preschools, compulsory schools and upper secondary schools. They can receive support to participate in international conferences or carry out a joint project with a school in another country.
The Global School
The Global School is a programme that exists to support teaching of global sustainable development issues, from an environmental, economic and/or social perspective. The programme focuses on initiatives such as seminars, conferences and courses. The programme is aimed at compulsory schools, upper secondary schools and adult education.
Sida travel grant
Sida’s travel grant funds unpaid work experience with international organisations with a connection to Swedish development work, such as the UN. This opportunity is available to anyone studying at undergraduate level, as well as recent graduates, that have a Swedish citizenship or hold a permanent residency in Sweden.
Athena
Athena - the Programme for Global Exchange within Vocational Education and Training. The programme gives pupils, teachers, school management and other teaching staff within upper secondary vocational education and training the opportunity to exchanges with developing countries.
For students outside Europe:
Swedish Tuition fee Scholarship for students from countries outside Europe (EU/EEA and Switzerland)
From the autumn semester 2011 citizens from countries outside Europe (EU/EEA and Switzerland) are required to pay an application and tuition fee for studying in Sweden. You find more information about the fees on www.studera.nu.
The Swedish Tuition fee Scholarship is only eligible for students from countries outside Europe (EU/EEA and Switzerland) who can not apply for the Swedish Institute Study Scholarship.
Students who like to apply for the Swedish Tuition fee Scholarship must contact the individual university or university college to get more information about what kind of scholarship they offer. It may differ between the universities. Please note that the International Programme Office can not answer any questions about what kind of scholarship each university offer.
